OVERVIEW

Location Based Service (LBS) for various computing paradigms and application scenarios has become increasingly popular in recent years with the proliferation of smart systems (smart city, intelligence transportation system, smart healthcare system, etc.) and smart devices, such as smartphones, unmanned vehicles, robots and so on. It is thought that this will greatly improve the quality of our daily lives through accurate localization, distributed sensing, real-time transmission, and cloud-based service provision. As the key building block of this near future vision, LBS involves localization, sensing, transmission techniques, especially in indoor and infrastructure-less even hostile environments, which are getting more and more attention due to the challenges brought by the absence of infrastructures and security threats at different protocol layers. The attackers can simply emit continuous radio signals to the medium to hinder normal information transmission or launch much sophisticated protocol-aware attacks to the positioning process. For the positioning system, it also faces challenges like intruder-resilient positioning, location privacy preserving, secure location sharing and verification etc. In fact, different positioning scenarios need different localization accuracy and have different security requirements. Therefore, scenario or application-oriented secure positioning technologies are of great concern.

The purpose of this special collection is to collate the most innovative approaches and solutions (through research and applications based articles), and place them in the context of the works that have been previously published in the area of security positioning technologies and service for emerging services and computing paradigms.

Potential topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

• Secure Localization Architecture • Secure LBS for IoT • Secure LBS for 5G • Secure LBS for Smart Health Applications • Secure LBS for Ultra Dense Wireless Networks • Secure Localization for WSN • Secure LBS for Robots • Secure Mobile Target Localization • Secure Transmission for LBS • Secure Location Sharing • Secure Location Data Analytics • Secure Location Inference for the Internet • LBS-oriented Attacks and Countermeasures • Security-enhanced Distributed Sensing • Security-enhanced Mobile Objects Tracking • Security Enhancement Techniques for Positioning Data Processing • Privacy Preserving LBS • Privacy Preserving Location Sharing • Privacy Preserving Data Analytics • Privacy Preserving LBS for the Internet

The submitted manuscripts for this special collection will be peer-reviewed before publication.

Please submit your paper according to the following timetable for the special collection:
