Theme and Topics

The theme of ISNM-5 is "Nanomanufacturing of Devices/Products for the Biomedical and Life Sciences Industries". In addition to this theme, the plenary, keynote and technical sessions will also cover classical topics listed below.

Nanomanufacturing encompasses the methods, processes and systems required to produce goods that use nano-scale phenomena, features, or parts. Nanomanufacturing will provide the gateway through which scientists and engineers bring the promise of nano-scale science and technology to the consumer. These efforts require the integration of the nano-scale sciences with engineering and manufacturing to solve multi-domain (mechanical, thermal, fluid, electrical, optical, chemical, biological) and multi-scale (nano-, micro-, macro-) problems. Our members are a diverse set of scholars and practitioners from the fields of physics, chemistry, biology, precision machine design, engineering, business and manufacturing.

Original contributions are now sought in all research and education areas of ISNM-5 related to nanomanufacturing, including but not limited to:

    * Nanomaterial production and integration
    * 2D patterning, 3D templating and fabrication/synthesis processes
    * Bottom-up directed/self-assembly
    * Metrology, sensing and characterization
    * Manipulation and actuation
    * Instrumentation, tooling, equipment
    * Modeling, simulation and control - fluidics, energetics etc
    * Design, optimization and control
    * NEMS and MEMS nanomanufacturing
    * Biomimetics and biomanufacturing
    * Biomedical devices and tissue engineering
    * Biological and chemical nanosensors
    * Health, safety and environmental aspects
    * Socio-economic aspects of nanomanufacturing
    * Nanomanufacturing in industry
    * SMA Student Poster Competition

Review of Abstracts

All abstracts will be peer reviewed by at least two independent reviewers through the Technical Program Committee. Reviewers will use our On-Line Review System for entering their reviews. Depending on the breadth, depth and quality of the work in the extended abstracts, the reviewers will recommend to the Committee invitation for oral presentation, poster presentation or no invitation of an extended abstract, while making every effort to accommodate the authors?? preference.
